Membership in Delta Gamma brings with it countless memories and experiences which will shape its members for years to come.
Consistent with our Founders’ thoughts in 1873, our primary purpose is to create an environment for our members in which lasting friendships and our vows of sisterhood emanate all aspects of our Fraternity. We encourage an atmosphere which will foster high ideals of friendship among college women, promote their educational and cultural interests, create in them a true sense of social responsibility and develop in them high qualities of character.
Delta Gamma is more than just a collegiate experience; it is a lifetime of commitment, support and opportunity awaiting you. It marks the beginning of a relationship that will last for a lifetime.
With much gratitude and excitement, I write this note to our chapter. I have never been as proud to be a Delta Gamma as I am today. Just over a month ago, I had the honor and privilege of representing our chapter at the 67th Biennial Convention in Orlando, FL. The weekend was a constant reminder of why I joined Delta Gamma 15 years ago and why Delta Gamma has remained an integral part of my life.
The impressive achievements of our Fraternity were touted throughout the weekend and I wanted to pass along some of the highlights. This biennium our collegiate and alumnae chapters donated over $5.5 million to our Foundation and the last three years have been the strongest fundraising years in our history. As a Fraternity, we've completed over 437,000 service hours and given more than $500,000 in Anchor grants (over 2 times that of any other fraternity). Wear your anchor with pride, Delta Gamma is a tremendous organization.
Not only was convention a constant reminder of my pride in Delta Gamma, but also my pride in our Jacksonville Alumnae Chapter. I was so pleased when our chapter won the Collumnae Award for Region 3 and even more humbled when we were recognized as runner up Fraternity-wide. This award recognizes alumnae chapters that excel in supporting their local collegiate chapter. Thank you to the advisers, house corporation board, and all who have participated in our joint programming efforts over the past two years.
As a new year approaches, our group has many exciting events planned focusing on fun, Foundation, fitness, and friendship. I hope as you peruse the calendar you find several events that pique your interest. If we haven't seen you in a while, I encourage you to join us for an upcoming event. As I was reminded at convention, Delta Gamma offers a lifetime of fulfillment beyond your college years. DG teaches us to be leaders, to inspire, and to "Do Good." As so beautifully put by one of our sisters, "As long as I have an anchor on my heart and sisters by my side, I can achieve anything."
With that said, I look forward to an outstanding year of giving back and doing more.
Always anchored and ITB,
